National Agency for Regional Development fully supports development of LEDIB Cluster House and cluster networking of small and medium enterprises from Nis and South-East Serbia, confirmed by grants it approved for implementation of the projects of Start-up Clusters members.
Metabolic syndrome poses a great threat and increased risk for occurrence and development of numerous diseases, especially Diabetes type 2 and cardiovascular diseases. In treatment of metabolic syndrome the most important are prevention, healthy lifestyle, correct nutrition and age appropriate physical activity (training). Treatment of metabolic syndrome is complex, and the most efficient cure is prevention. This was the essence and main message of the series of lectures organized within Development of Material and Human Resources through Education, Strengthening of Partnership with Scientific-Research Institutions and Cooperation with State Health Protection Project. This project is intended to train Medical Start-up Cluster members, informing them about the latest developments in this scientific field. LEDIB Cluster House members projects were approved by the National Agency for Regional Development and their implementation immediately started. Medical Start-up Cluster was among the first to organize a Symposium accredited by the Health Council. The first accredited domestic training on Metabolic Syndrome and Obesity: Prevention, Diagnostics and Therapy was held on December 7, for the target group of thirty participants, managers and employees of enterprises – Medical Start-up Cluster members.
General objectives of Development of Material and Human Resources Through Education, Strengthening of Partnership with Scientific-Research Institutions and Cooperation with State Health Protection Project are capacity strengthening of cluster members, improvement of competitiveness of private practice in the field of health protection, support to cooperation between private practice and state health protection, networking into associations (clusters) and mutual activities with scientific-research organizations. That is why the National Agency for Regional Development approved 218 000 dinar for the implementation of this project. Training consisted of several parts – lecture on Metabolic Syndrome and Obesity: Prevention, Diagnostics and Therapy was held by Dr Maja Nikolic, Professor at Medical Faculty Nis. Dr Irena Mitic from Private Practice Human talked about therapy of metabolic syndrome, Sladjana Vuckovic, MSc in Biology, of Polyclinic Neolab talked about insulin resistance of metabolic syndrome and syndrome of polycystic ovaries, and Dr Spomenka Kovacevic, MSc, of Private Practice Medika, presented the influence of obesity to asthma in children. Dr Jelena Nedeljkovic of Private Practice Eurodijagnostika talked lectured on fatty infiltration of liver and Dr Ljubinka Stojkovic from Wizard talked about non-pharmacological treatment of obesity.
Several other trainings important for acquiring the latest knowledge and further education of experts and managers of enterprises – Medical Start-up Cluster members will be held within this Project.
